Don’t Miss JUNE Workshop Weekend!
Direct from Ireland - Sharleen Doyle!
Master Sean-nós Dance Instructor
Sharleen grew up in the Mourne mountains and learned her dancing there from the age of 4 and by 11 she earned her first All Ireland in set dancing. Sharleen has always loved to dance and attended the ceili’s in the local hall in Hilltown where her Uncle ran the monthly events. Sharleen then discovered Sean Nós dancing and travelled to workshops all around the country improving and learning new steps. Sharleen had the advantage of having an excellent teacher and went to Kathleen Mc Glynn for lessons in her kitchen in Co. Louth. In her early 20’s Sharleen really got into dancing and would travel all over the country to big dance weekends where they had the best teachers and the biggest bands in set dancing. Sean Nós surged and competitions started to take place all-over the country. Sharleen received her 3rd All-Ireland title in 2012 at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Cavan and went on to start her own dance school in Moate. She has had great success with her students and they are now helping her to teach the next generation. Sharleen’s passion is good music, good dancing and preservation of the Irish old style dance tradition. She travels to the UK, Europe and more recently Japan to spread the love of her dance heritage and preservation of this great skill. Phoenix School of Irish Arts of Atlanta is honored to include Sharleen on our teaching staff!
